Parallel to the congress activities, ESMUC and ACEM organize the Fiddle meeting. This is an open activity open to string students of music schools and conservatories of Catalonia, and will take place in the Municipal Sports Pavilion in Martorell, on Sunday November 17.
The meeting’s objective is to offer a group class with the leading artists of the Barcelona Fiddle Congress (Hanneke Cassel and Mike Block) addressed to all students who want to work the music of oral and Scottish Celtic tradition, jazz and modern music. The meeting will become a massive and participatory class-concert also open to the public so that family members of the participants who wish, can be audience. Some of the material that students will work at this event, will have been previously prepared at the schools or conservatories with their teachers.
Before the Meeting, there will be some practical and informative sessions with the instrument addressed to all teachers who want to participate with their students in the Fiddle Meeting. The purpose of these free sessions is to provide teachers with material to work during the meeting and explain the different activities which will take place in the Congress. The sessions will be led by the violinist Saña Oriol.
In order to involve students and teachers from schools across the Catalan territory sessions will be held in different cities and dates:
- July 1: from 10h to 13h, in the EMM and the Manresa Conservatory
- July 2: from 10h to 13h, in ESMUC
- July 3: from 10h to 13h, in the Music School and Conservatory in Reus
